THE ART OF WORK (2)

Work beyond being a necessary factor for survival of the human specie is also a channel through which man extend influence, form bond, build relationships and communicate with his fellow man in the society. Work serve as a vehicle through which man extend his influence into the wider society. Each of us as mankind influence one another through our work. Society works hard to build the independent man by exerting him to about upon whom society themselves depend for their individual needs. Human society continues to thrive through the ceaseless contribution of individuals who devoted themselves to work and meet the need of their fellow man. Society first builds the man and man builds the society. Some people may not consider work as an art but as a means to achieve an end, a means to put food on their table,  clothes on their back, roof over their head and more. But when we ponder deeply on these whole life necessities we will see how much art is employed in getting our needs met through the means of work.

The art of communication is one factor through which relationships are created. Building a good character, building trust, building a business relationship requires work on your part. To succeed in business demand that man focus on building a good reputation by integrating morality into his personality structure in order to build customer loyalty and customer chain in his business. People don't just buy products they buy reliability, trust , faithfulness, integrity, honesty in exchange of the money they pay you. People want to be treated nicely. They want to be treated kindly, they want you to win their heart and nit their money only. When majority of people think of work, they just see it as a means to meet necessities and not as a means to grow their personality and reputation. Society strive to build a man by making him seek ways to build customers trust,  reliability, loyalty in business. Man communicate influence through his work. People see him either as faithful or unfaithful, dependable or undependable,  trustworthy or untrustworthy,  through the quality of his products and services. As mankind our actions communicate a whole lot than the words we say. A wise business man understands that communication is not expressed only by the words of his mouths but by the action he takes and the result he produces. Trust, good reputation, reliability, are all a result of morality. The man that does not give equivalent services in exchange for the money he received is an unjust man and soon enough such practice will leave an impression on his personality and end up ruining his reputation.  Trust is one word that build business relationships and form bonds. A man that practices injustice in his business cannot form bonds.

Man and woman in all walks of life underrate morality in business. But beneath every successful business structure there are elements of morality that stands as its foundation ensuring its stability and preventing its collapse. Morality is that stealthy force that drives the human society forward by making people work in the spirit of harmony. Businesses collapse for the want or lack of morality. It is morality that drives trust, reliability and loyalty In any business relationships that has formed strong bonds through the years.
When a man limit work as a means of making money or a means of sieving he fails to see how his influence help in the shaping of his prosperity. Work is an art and a great art at that. The art of forming bond, building trust, building customer loyalty takes work that relies mostly on how successful a man has integrated good moral code into the structure if his personality.  A good reputation is one feature of personality that embodies great moral virtues practiced by a person through the years. A good and successful society ,a good and successful  business corporation , lies on how the majority of its members practice successfully the art of work.

  THE ART OF WORK

Man is designed to work. To put food on his table, clothes on his back and a roof over his head, work is a necessary factor that help him accomplish all these.  Man and work are inseparable because by nature man is designed to work. Beyond having his basic needs met and beyond the need to survive man seek something greater. Man and woman in all walks of life are frustrated, tired, depressed, and many suffer from deep psychological torture because their lives lack meaning and as a result they lack peace of mind. Many are confined in hospital beds as a result of clinical depression, many are in rehabilitation centers as a result of drugs and alcohol related problems which seriously inflicts them and thousands of individuals in many parts of the world are taking their own lives as a result of  depression  , hopelessness and lack of peace.
I saw on Tv the other day the case of a wealthy man who left a suicide note containing the words " dear world, I am leaving you because I am bored....." before committing suicide.  Obviously the man was suffering from a serious case of boredom which his wealth failed to alleviate.  I believe loneliness is  the number one cause of boredom and the extreme case of boredom is what result into clinical depression.

Many workers today who have good employment and receive good salaries feel separated from their work and as a result feel lonely and unattached to what they do because they do not align themselves to their place of calling in life. Many individuals today have a myopic view of what work really mean. The average individual believe the purpose of work is to make money only. This limited view of work is what make many do the jobs they don't enjoy and many employees today cant wait to go on a vacation in order to escape from the demand their jobs place on them on a daily basis. Work which is suppose to be fun, fulfilling,  satisfying has become such a huge burden for so many employees today because they fail to align themselves in their place of calling in life. Work can be a huge burden when purpose is missing. Their are so many miserable millionaires who feel so out of harmony with what they do. their are too many unfulfilled bankers, frustrated engineers, unhappy nurses who feel so out of sync with what the do because they lack passion and love for what they do. When a man properly align himself to the place of his calling work cease to be a burden.

A sense of purpose changes the view a man has about his work. Rather than a means to make money and survive, it becomes a means to add value.  A life of purpose is a life of meaning. Purpose is what brings life to work. Work is never meant to be boring but when purpose is missing then the individual only seeks happiness in making money by all means. Purpose enable us cope with the disadvantages that surrounds our work, hence focus our energy towards useful ends. When purpose is lacking life becomes unbearable and work becomes a huge burden. As mankind we exist for a reason and that reason is to find our purpose and play our part by aligning ourselves to the place of our calling. When a man can't lay his hands on the "why" he exist his energy is channeled in the direction of depression, suicidal thoughts and even violence as a result of lack of peace.Work gives a man a sense of independence and a sense of usefulness in life as he recognises himself as part of the force that drive the human society forward. Hence, this gives him a sense of contribution. Give a man work, the dignity of his manhood is restored. When work is taken from man by virtue of right-sizing, sicknesses, retirement or accident a sense of dependence strip him off his dignity of manhood such that the man sees himself as a burden to his family and the society at large. The thought of worthlessness and depression can lead such a man in the direction of violence, alcohol consumption ( in some cases just to protect their ego) and suicide. Hence work has a psychological influence in the life of a man. Work beyond meeting needs beings satisfaction and a sense of contribution to the man who aligns himself to the place of his calling.

Work is a great gift to all mankind but the  soul is tortured when it lacks a sense of purpose. When life becomes boring and uninteresting by virtue of e.g retirement it is always advisable to pursue a new course. A new dream. Life does not pamper the static person. It punishes such a one with unbearable lack of peace of mind . Many end their lives to find peace in the eternal realm. This is why great men keep dreaming and bringing old things into new form by improving their minds. Life is a boring place for the man that lacks dreams, direction and purpose in life. Are you old and bored? You can start pursuing a new course, go back to school, be a part of the relief society, become a philanthropist and draw nearer to the Infinite Mind for comfort and peace of mind. As mankind we spend a lot of time at work than In other things because work happen to be a channel where we draw income to meet with the necessities of life. Why then should a man choose for himself the kind of work that does not fit with his design, that does not make him happy and that does not give him a sense of satisfaction and contentment? Having a sense of purpose requires that we set new goals and realign our values as we advance in age in our dynamic world. What gives us the feeling of relevance and contribution is our ability to cope with change in a world that is rapidly advancing. Hence moving with change and setting new goals create in us a sense of purpose in our respective field of calling in life. Work is a channel through which purpose is made manifest and kept alive through continuous goal setting. Not having a sense of purpose makes work a huge burden. Man and woman in all walks of life as a result of lack of purpose are unable to channel negative emotions to a constructive ends hence they seek escape by indulging in consumerism, taking antidepressants and other drugs in order to escape the feeling of emptiness that feel and many commit suicide just to end the unbearable pain that comes from a life that lack meaning.

Man is designed to work. His physical and cognitive make up demands that he works In order to maintain his existence and survival. For man to enjoy his escape from extinction by virtue of surviving he needs a deeper sense of self. He needs purpose. Purpose enable man finds his niche and enjoy his work. For man to enjoy his work he needs to set new goals as he advances since change is the inevitable element that sustain and drive evolution.  Hence work, purpose and the need to set new goals help in the shaping of man's mind and enable man to act as a creative force in the advancement of the world he occupies. burdom is a threat to all mankind.  When man does not involve himself in any activity , when a man is not in his place of calling and when man fails to create new goals and continue to stick to the convenient or tradition, then he will be faced with this emotional threat in life. A sense of purpose help us achieve psychological balance and enjoy inner peace.

OBEDIENCE  ( take control of your life)

Being a member of the human society requires that we meet certain expectations. A lot of times it means giving up our dreams, casting our personal beliefs aside and embracing other peoples values in order to maintain our existence in the society. Doing this qualifies the individual as a normal member of the society. Many individuals swimming in the current of the majority don't see how much they submit to this gigantic force that rest upon their shoulders, proscribe the use of their intellect, control their limbs, and general body motor coordination. They allow popular beliefs and norms dictate the direction of their lives by giving power to these forces. Many bow to tradition, customs, religious beliefs and norms that don't support their growth and well being. Many have lost their sense of individuality to that gigantic force that controls their general organization. Civility is of little help to such individuals as they always go back to tradition. This force often operate to make the majority out of one individual, silence the idea of individuality, divide the individual into many different personality, promote lack of independence in the individual, which eventually leads to the vulnerability of the individual, lack of self, instability, and poor personal cognitive dependence ability.

Society everywhere is against individuality. The man who holds a personal belief separate himself from the belief of the majority and exercise his faculty of individual reasoning is often treated differently and such individual is easily recognized. Society want to think for you by allowing popular beliefs and opinions influence your action and judgement. Notice how a man who relies on his faculty of independence reasoning  is treated in the society. Society treat such a one with contempt, scorn and wait to mock at their failures and defeats. Listen to the popular feed-back a man who make his vision, ideas, and dreams known in the society. Listen to how much negative feed-back he gets than positive feed-back. "Be realistic" is a popular statement that seems to come out of the mouth of these communities of majority. Notice how their words is supported with facts and stories of those who attempted but failed. " things has never been done that way" is a popular chorus that a man with a new vision tend to get from those who are so used to tradition. But  men of undivided will, men that are motivated by strong vision, men of great dreams never sacrifice their passion for the need to gain acceptance and never allow mockery, contempt to quench the fire within.

Many great men in the society who chose to stand alone despite all odds and held on to their dreams have had their share of personal experiences with the society of collectivism. Listen to their stories, their pain,  their struggles and how eventually victory was won at last. Great inventors, geologist, astrologers, scientist, poets, musicians, models,.writers, photographers, sculptor, architects are those who stood against the men of their times and victory was won at last. Listen to the story of the Wright brothers who invented the aircraft, Listen to the story of Thomas Edison who invented the light bulb, Listen to the story of Rogger Bannister who broke the limited global belief about the five minute miles, listen to the story of Albert Einstein the physicist who developed  theories of relativity despite his difficulty in learning during his school years, listen to the story of Obama the first black president of America, listen to the story of Jesus the son of God , listen to the story of Joseph who rose into the position of leadership despite being a victim of slavery, listen to the story of the story of Martin Luther king jnr who fought for freedom and equality, listen to the story of all these great men.  Listen to their defeat and their eventual triumph. These great men have one thing in common, they chose to stand alone.

To be human is to express ones individuality and take a stand for what one believe in. To be human is to have a sense of self, to be human is to have the ability to think, feel, reason and act. To be human is to express ones unique personality. Having a sense of self liberate you from the unreasonable demand of the majority. Being in the majority prevent you from shining and being that human being God really wants you to be. Being in the majority limits your dream as it makes you dwell so much on your defeat and not on possible triumph. Standing alone brings out the light in you. It makes others notice your existence because it make you tap fully your potential. Learn to stand alone and let your voice be heard.

 TORN APART (finding you)

Exercising some level of control over one's life is one challenge many individuals struggle or strive to attain in a world full of opinions and an easy map on how one's life should be lived. As a social specie of the human community protecting one's unique identity can be quite challenging as this often means going against norms which the majority obediently adhere.  Most time we get ourselves immersed in the majority that we lost touch of who we really are. We suffer from low self esteem because we fail to build personal power, because we have always learned to rely on others for our happiness and peace of mind. We fear to be in solitude, we fear making decisions on our own, we fear making our own personal judgement and our opinion appear to be inferior to us because we have learned to depend on others for all these.
To be human is to have a sense of identity. To be human is to grow in confidence and trust one's ability to make sound judgement. Many as a result of lack confidence and poor self concept of themselves judge things through the lens of the majority in order to gain love and acceptance of the majority. As individuals we are all unique and special in our different ways. don't be afraid of expressing your unique individuality. Understand that you have a unique part to play on this earth. Hiding in the multitude in order to avoid being judged based on your own personal opinion only limits your capacity to grow, trascend, .and become a better you. Understand that being in the multitude is a stressful place to be. Being in the multitude divides you into many parts and make the real you completely silent. Many become unsteady, unbalanced, torn apart, confused and gradually whittle themselves away in order to fit the perfect description of the girl on the magazine cover. Society without fail place you where they think you belong by giving you a label. The need to avoid or escape some labels and be in the societal good account has led many to sacrifice their personality, lose their individual voices, and has made many function below their potential. Many are torn apart and piece by piece they duplicate the personality on the screen and allow popular opinions and belief to guide their decisions in life.

To stand alone you must learn to accept some labels and avoid being offended by such labels. When you take offence in the labels or names they call you then slowly you will disengage from that very thing you love and because you seek acceptance and love of the majority you will take up their popular habit which are often destructive. They call you a clergy man because you love to preach the gospel, they call you a geek because you love to read, they call you an almanac because you love the Encyclopedia, they call you anti-social because you take non alcoholic beverages, they call you unreal man because you keep to only one woman, understand that whatever party you belong you will always be given a label. An almanac,  a geek, a clergy man,  an anti-social individual are nothing but opinions that are often used against those who have discovered their unique calling in life in order to draw them into the multitude.  Understand that the majority always have the advantage of number and that does not mean they are right. That an opinion is widely accepted does not make it true.
Standing for what is right and what is true often requires that you extract yourself from the majority and see things for what they really are. Who says nicotine makes you hot? Who says alcohol makes you social? The fear of standing alone is what makes many hide themselves in the crowd. In the actual sense standing alone does not mean being by one self. No one is an island. We all need each other as a social specie. Liberation comes from the discovery of self. When you discover yourself, your unique calling, your niche then you will develop confidence to stand alone. You will develop the strength to stand on your belief, Your conviction, and decision in life. Most times the internal struggle many encounter in life is a result of their unwillingness to accept who they are, and their unwillingness to accept the place of their calling in life. Many are swayed by popular opinions of the majority, they never start up a project, never finish up a project, they are confused,  discouraged, and many wait for others to tell them what they think about their dreams, their ideas and vision. Society respect the confidence. They give way to them because the are those who knows what they really want even when they stroke them with a label. Standing alone is at the heart of self confidence. When you lack confidence in your personal opinion,.your belief and values then the multitude might be the right place for you.

To many the multitude is a safe place to be. No one will ever question their opinions because it is the opinion of the masses. But hiding in the multitude only obscures ones individuality. Many have long lost connection with their true self. They dread solitude and seek company at all cost. Even when alone their electronic devices has to be working in order to feel some sense of connection with the world. Solitude should not be confused with loneliness. Every great man appreciate solitude because that is when they connect with their higher selves. Those who have discovered themselves and their place in the world appreciate solitude. The musician, the artist, the actor,.the pianist, the writer, the doctor, lawyers and many inventors appreciate solitude because that is where they connect and draw inspiration from the infinite mind. understand that you are unique being and you have a unique role to play in life. Hiding in the multitude only limit you and prevent you from transcending and becoming a better you. When you lack a sense of identity, then you will always identify yourself based on what people tell you.
To find yourself you must first discover your purpose in life. Lack of purpose and direction is what make many run to the majority for support and strength. Also to find yourself you must extract yourself from the masses and stand alone.

Understand that as an individual your existence is tied to meeting needs. When you immerse yourself in the multitude you scatter your force in too many direction and you will not effect a significant impact in any one direction. Standing in the crowd makes your voice silent. The fear of standing alone can make you ineffective in life. To that man who feels the world is against him for choosing the unpopular way of life to you I write. To that young man who struggle for acceptance to you I write, to that young man whose dream is being ridiculed and termed unreasonable to you I write, to that young lady who struggle with inferiority complex to you I write, you can only grow, shine, and transcend from there.

KEYS TO UNLOCKING YOUR POTENTIALS
We all have a space in our heart that only us can reach, that only us have the access to. This space is private. This space hold the treasure that lies concealed within our heart. Sometimes we being the owner of this private space and having the keys to unlock our treasure feel unworthy,  undeserving to use the keys. We act as interlopers, we apologize for owning the treasure that is rightfully ours. We skulk around waiting for people to permit us to unlock our treasures because we find ourselves undeserving. Sometimes this space as private and personal as it is scares us because we don't feel entitled to have them, we don't feel entitled to what belongs to us.
We deny ourselves the use of our keys as we allow doubt, fear take a big space in the corner of our hearts. Sometimes we make use of these keys, sometimes we throw them aside and sometimes we forget they are within reach. But these keys when rightfully employed awake our consciousness, give us a sense of entitlement, inflate our confidence, make us embrace the societies of our contemporaries as it unlock some personal power that gird us with strength to face our doubt and fear with renewed hope and courage. Below are some of the keys that can unlock that private space within your heart.

POSITIVE BELIEF: belief is a very vital key that help change our conception of who we are and help focus our consciousness to our dreams in life. Positive belief help grow our self confidence and make us treat ourselves based on that treasure that lies within us and not based on the undesirable circumstances that surrounds us. We tell ourselves who are we to believe in ourselves , who are we to use this key not because we are afraid we might find nothing when the door opens instead we are scared of the great light that will illuminate our very existence and make us visible in the eyes of many. Hence we wait too long holding this key until others tell us to use them. And then we realize how much power we have in our hands to make visible that treasure that lies concealed in our heart by turning this key through that tiny hole. Having a positive belief in ourselves help awaken our potential. The truth is positive belief is a vital key that help actualize our potential. It is our right to utilize this key. Do not allow failure, setback, difficulty, disappointment undesirable circumstances prevent you from using this key.

CONSISTENCY:  continuous effort - not strength or intelligence is the key to unlocking our potential - Winston Churchill. realizing our dreams or knowing that we possess enormous treasure within us is not enough. It is the consistent effort we make and our high level of commitment in bringing them out that matters because only then can our dreams or treasure be of help to others. Even when you are not operating on the high level of genius in the beginning, staying committed help build that genius in you. Making consistency a habit help you get there. Most time we get excited about the treasure locked within us but fail to realize it is through consistent effort that our treasure can fully be tapped. As a result of our inconsistency we tap so little from the vast potential within us and compare our results with that of our contemporaries and eventually begin to form a belief that they are more gifted than us. The truth is our talents can only be multiplied when we use what we already have well. If only you can remain consistent your light will fully shine.

HEALTHY SELF ESTEEM: having a healthy self esteem is very essential. Most time having low self esteem make us play small in the world. Instead of entering into our full possessions we scoop a small portion of it because we lack confidence in ourselves as a result of low self concept we have about our ability or capacity. God can never have  his work   made manifest by cowards says Ralph Waldo Emerson in his book titled self -reliance. I believe another term for low self esteem is deprivation because having a low self esteem deprive the individual from taking full possession of what is rightfully his to possess. Such individuals ask for little things in life and deprive themselves from reaching their full potential. They allow others to intimidate them because they are yet to know who they really are. Sometimes they gain consciousness of the treasure within them but they see themselves too small to claim them. Having a healthy self esteem is a vital key to possessing and bringing out the treasure that is locked within you. Playing small can't help you or anyone because it keeps your fortune locked and the world waiting.

EVERY SOUL YEARNS TO BE HEARD

Every soul seek to connect with other souls. The need to be heard is an intrinsic component of the human design. Our existence is tied to meeting needs. As mankind we all carry within us seeds of greatness that seek  fuller expression when this seed is recognized and utilized our lives become meaningful. The search for meaning becomes fulfilled when each souls express its full capacity by meeting the needs of other souls. As mankind we are here to meet needs. When the soul is deprived of this great need ( the need to be heard) a sense of disconnection is felt with other souls and lack of peace and unhappiness will be the high cost  for such deprivation which many seek to get by becoming immersed in consumerism.

Beyond feeding, clothing and housing every soul seek greater needs beyond the need to survive. Within every souls lies talent and even in their most undeveloped states seek expression in order to make meaning of its very existence. Developing our unique talent first connects us with our true selves and when we share our talents with other souls it connects us with others and make us a part of the bigger whole which brings fulfillment and satisfaction to us. Despising this calling separate us from the bigger whole and make our lives lack meaning. Their is a voice within every soul that seeks to be heard. This voice is the voice of our talents. This voice grows faint and lost its capacity for growth when it is not effectively utilized. A finished car represents the voices of many souls that has been given a chance to fully express themselves. The Tyre, the steering,   the car body, the bolts and nuts, the paint, the bumper, the inbuilt radio, etc that makes up a complete and highly improved car represents the input from many different souls that  bring their individual talents to achieve a common purpose to the benefit of mankind.  We can see the great connection of talents that goes into the making of a single car. There is a great connection of talents that goes into  the making of music, art, TV's, computers , refrigerators, houses, movies, and many other things that is brought into existence by man.

he souls great need is to be heard by expressing fully its unique talents  in order to connect and be a part of the greater whole. No one talent is greater than the other so stop playing small and stop seeing yourself as someone with a little talent. In the making of music we often give credit to the musician and forget the input of many other talents that contribute in making the music a success. In the making of movies we celebrate the actors and overlook the input of many other talents that worked together in unity to make the movies a success. Most time we appreciate the finished product and fail to recognize the other effort that come together to make the finished product a reality. Your talent may not be among the ones that can easily be sighted but it can greatly impact the lives of mankind when you work hard on it. Rejecting your place of calling simply because you believe your talent is not among the "exalted talents" that society easily recognize and praise is shutting yourself from your true self. Lack of inner peace , fulfillment and lack of satisfaction will be a life long companion if you fail to align yourself to your true calling. Apart from the praise we get from aligning ourselves to those "glorified talents" unfulfillment and lack of inner peace are the expensive price we tend to pay in exchange for disconnecting ourselves from our true nature.

The thing you joyfully and with less struggle even when you encounter difficulties or difficulties is your true self. Challenges come to grow us. Building your intellectual and emotional capacity enable you manage challenges and protect your talents from losing it voice and capacity to be heard. The truth is we feel small because we think small. We feel small because we think small of our talents. The reality of the matter is no one talent is greater than the other.
Years back photography was not seen beyond the walls of the studio. Today talented photographers have taken to the streets capturing all the beauties of nature  which include man, plants, animals of various kinds, mountains, flowers the sky etc. Today artistic makeup has gained recognition, a talent that was unrecognized, despised and treated as small or insignificant. Today make up artists are fast gaining recognition as part of the people who are shaping the fashion world. Talented make up artist are fast evolving employing artistic method in bringing beauty to the faces of women. Any talent can make you great if you put your heart to it. Their are nurses and their are successful  nurses, their are barbers and their are successful barbers, their are dancers and their are successful dancers, their are musicians and their are successful musicians . No one talent supposedly bring success to the individual without working for it. Your talent require great work on your part for it to stand firm in the commercial world. Be yourself, align yourself to your true calling and let your voice be heard.

                                                 SIZE DOES NOT MATTER

From the busy city of  Chicago, London, Lagos,  Yokohama,  Seoul,  to the deserts,  forest, mountains into the interior of seas and on the surface of many seas exist souls young and old expressing their talents. These are people whose passion lead them to occupy certain portion in earth. We have seen how passion drove a man named (Ra  Paulette) into the desert to create a master piece cavern. We have seen how passion drove men to travel into galaxies. We have seen how passion drove men into the interior of seas, we have seen how passion drove men into the jungle to make documentaries of some wild creatures.  It is passion and love for music that lead a young man to play his guitar skillfully in the street.  It is passion and love for dancing that lead some group of dancers into the street.  But there are times when these individuals drop their guitar, their surfboard, their dance shoes, their barbell, their snowboard,  their pen for a little want of encouragement.

As mankind we get into this high-low rollercoaster mood now and then. One moment we feel we are just fine and we can do without the encouragement of people at other times we crave the attention of others. We crave their support because it help change our mental outlook and gird us with strength to confront our fears.  We check our dashboard to see how many people viewed our blogs or websites.  We get high when the feedback is positive, we get into the low mood when someone criticize our work,  we get excited when the number of people that appear for our street performance is higher than the previous one and we get sad if the statistic drops.  We ask ourselves for what purpose are we investing so much time,  effort,  sleepless night,  energy, when no one seems to appreciate our work or even give us some words of encouragement.  Then slowly we get into the habit of criticizing our work as we begin to measure the quality of our work with the number of audience we receive.

As mankind we should understand that the size or the number of people we draw does not matter. Comparing the quality of your work with the number of turn up can be limiting. Keep in mind that what interest you might not interest another. When they fail to appreciate your work it might be because they don't see beyond where they find you.  When it comes to your dream you are the only one who knows where you are going. To one person a desert might just be an isolated or a dead area filled with sand interspersed with tiny pebbles but to that man who find passion in photography a desert represent much more than that. To one person the big sea might just be for the pleasure of sight seeing alone but to that young man who has found passion in surfing the big sea represents a platform where he can learn how to surf against the wave and come out a world class surfer. Wherever portion you may occupy at the moment let your passion bring life into the place. Concentrate your attention on becoming better than you were yesterday and not on the crowd you are able to attract.
There are times when we have to become our own life coach,  when we have to tell ourselves things that get us to feel good and face the day with much delight. There are times when we have to get the weight of discouragement off our shoulders by taking in some daily motivational diet. But life is more than relying on a daily doze of motivational pills. You have to work hard and build your talents into skill too.  Learning to appreciate feedback and accepting criticism the good way is a step forward to building yourself and building your skill too.

The art of self talk is a good way to building a healthy self esteem of oneself as it help us move forward against the tide of discouragement. Self talk help give us a sense of internal balance and help concentrate our attention to the things that are more important.  Engaging in self talk require us to build concentration power.  The degree to which we have developed our concentration power determines how very strongly we maintain internal balance in time when we mostly need it. When I first saw the picture of the young boy playing his flute near the pavement, I tried to envisage the whole complex emotional and cognitive processes taking place within him.  Then on a second thought I said to myself,  since he is only a child he should care less if he was able to attract only a cute little kitten.

There are times when we need to be our own life coach.  And one of the excellent qualities of a good coach is to instill confidence in his client  and prevent him from  exaggerating the disadvantages that surrounds him by making him use his sweet spot as a leverage to rise above any disempowering conditions while at the same time working on his weaknesses.  What ever form the self talk technique we utilize, weather we talk to ourselves in our minds or we talk audibly to our hearing, it help silence the voices of discouragement within us and make us the captain of our lives.
